WMC: Gardner Post, DJ Tom Laroc and the Baby Grand Master in Miami DJsounds caught up with the US conceptual/video

WMC: Gardner Post, DJ Tom Laroc and the Baby Grand Master in Miami

DJsounds caught up with the US conceptual/video artist Gardner Post to talk about art + technology at the Remix Hotel, at The National in South Beach. The interview is followed by a trip to a nearby apartment to get a special, behind-the-scenes insight into what Gardner’s working on this year – complete with words from celebrity DJ Tom Laroc!

Gardner was in South Beach with his Baby Grand Master creation (an acclaimed DJ/VJ masterpiece, modestly tagged the king of ‘video instruments’) to collaborate with the New York-born, Miami-based hip-hop DJ Tom Laroc/United Content Providers.

DJsounds last spoke to Gardner in 2007 at the Optronica festival, so it was great to see his vision for Baby Grand Master-style video mash-up materialising in such full-on splendour. Enjoy the show.

8 Track was an experimental distributed music piece created for the Boston Cyber Arts Festival, 2001

“Using Wide Area Collaboration (WAC) technologies, 8Track allows multiple people to create a unique musical piece which is unpredictable and live.

Bouncing a signal around the world, 8Track uses the internet as a global digital delay, thus using the net as a musical instrument. “

In 1998 I met David Fodel aka devslashnull, and Brian Comerford aka E23, who had created RadioValve.com, one of the first internet radio stations. I joined the RadioValve team as partner in 1999.

The image above is a player which I designed for one of the shows in 2000.

Radiovalve was featured in the Web Radio Book as well as a host of other publications. You can still listen to it online.

There are lots of interesting features on the site including interviews with Plaid, Terrence McKenna, Whitley Streiber, Luke Vibert, and Jonah Sharp

RadioValve is 24 Hour Techno.
