			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>From 1987 through 1995, I designed many comercial holograms.  These were mostly embossed foil, although a few were photopolymer, like this <a href="http://briankane.net/2006/12/terminator-boxed-set-1993/">Terminator Boxed Set</a>.</p>
<p>I had the good fortune to work with Craig Newswanger at Applied Holographics on many of these projects.  </p>
<p>The &#8220;Alias &#8211; More than teapots&#8221; hologram was made for Siggraph 89.  This was one of the first  3D rendered holograms ever made.</p>
<p>The work was mostly done on SGI Personal Iris PI-20 computers running Alias 2.0, which was very high tech for the time.  </p>
<p>I have lots of these holograms, and they are pretty hard to photograph.  Here are a few samples.</p>
