The Cave of the Subconscious includes over 24 mechanical sculptures merged into the steel walls of the Cave. Within this cerebral womb-cave, the viewer is surrounded by a textural and visual auditory overload, highlighted by intimate moments of investigations of cultural and ancestral identity, and the way in which heredity and evolution affect the outcome of health and life.

The Cave is activated and engaged by the interactivity of the viewer who, by moving near different sections of the interior and exterior, induces responses and performances of the various Cave denizens.

The sculptures are based on images unlocked from MacMurtrie's subconscious through a long process of carving and drawing on his desk while engaged in conversation on the phone. Each drawing sculpted in three dimensions is brought to life by mechanical means. Once its personality has been activated it adds to the multiple scenarios the cave has to offer.

The Cave is another elemental symbol of humanity's evolution incorporated into the Amorphic epistemology: the viewer is offered a visceral connection to a primal memory.

It is a fully self-contained environment with built-in interior lighting, low-pressure pneumatic systems, power supplies, and computers, and measures 6x10x3 meters. It travels in a standard cargo container with Too Big Dog Monkey, and sets up in 12 hours.
